WEC – The FIA ​​will develop technology equivalence in LMP1

With the new regulation which will come into force in WEC Next year, the FIA ​​announced at the end of its World Council that “Technology Equivalence” between the different DPPI s LMP1s will be implemented. The Federation will proceed in two stages: manufacturers will have to send their data this month and in February so that an adjustment on performance can be made to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, before proceeding with a new sending at the end of the double clock tour in Sarthe. This equivalence and the penalty system will be managed by the Committee ofEndurance.

A new FIA Endurance Trophy will reward the best private LMP1 driver crew if at least three prototypes are entered for the season. Furthermore, the FIA ​​announced that it would work with representatives of the GT teams to harmonize the categorization of GT drivers in the WEC and the GT Series.
