WEC – 2016 calendar revealed in Austin

Alors que le WEC will resume its rights at the end of the month by traveling for the first time to the Nürburgring (Germany), Gérard Neveu, the director of the discipline, announced that the calendar for the 2016 season would be revealed at the following event in Austin (Texas) the weekend of September 18 and 19.

“We are regularly in contact with promoters who would be delighted to welcome the WEC to new destinations”, confided Gérard Neveu on the official WEC website. “But we only want to add races if all the conditions are met, and in agreement with the stakeholders of the WEC and its partners. We want to continue working on the solid foundations we have established since 2012.”

The WEC calendar is still based on stability, with the only change for the 2015 season being the introduction of the Nürburgring in place of Interlagos in Sao Paulo (Brazil) unavailable this year due to the major work carried out.

“To increase awareness of these races, we need continuity”, recognized the director of the WEC. “The best way to retain fans and national media is to keep events at the same times. This is the fourth time we will ride in Fuji, Shanghai and Bahrain, the third time we will go to Austin; Each time, we have seen greater numbers of fans and greater media interest from year to year. »
