WEC / Le Mans – Audi plans to abandon its ERS-H

During the Austin test session, where AUTOhebdo was present, Dr. Ullrich answered questions from Statesman.com. The Audi boss notably mentioned the famous ERS-H system, for recovering the heat produced by the turbo of his R18 e-tron quattro. This system was initially intended to operate in parallel with the ERS-K, the kinetic energy recovery system, during braking phases. The German brand would consider not using this system for the 2014 season of the World Championship.Endurance WEC. “We worked on the subject but it did not give the expected results on the track. There is a risk in using it if you have doubts about its reliability. We don't want to take that risk. » explains Ullrich.

You will be able to find the report of this private testing session in the next issue of AUTOhebdo, available from Monday March 24 in digital version and Wednesday March 26 on newsstands
