Winners of the LM P2 category in 2015 with Sam Bird and Julien Canal, Roman Rusinov and G-Drive Racing were looking for a new operating entity to defend their crown in 2016, Oak Racing having approached in particular Extreme Speed Motorsport (winner at the 24 Hours of Daytona last weekend).
As we indicate in issue 2048 of AUTOhebdo, it is with the British training Jota Sport that the Russian pilot finally reached an agreement made official this Wednesday. An Oreca 05 will be lined up under the G-Drive banner in WEC and will be entrusted to Rusinov, supported by the French Nathanaël Berthon.
A Gibson 015S-Nissan will also be lined up in ELMS for the trio Giedo van der Garde ? Simon Dolan? Harry Tincknell. LM P2 will also be entered in the WEC at Spa and Le Mans, two events where Tincknell will give way to Briton Jake Dennis, driver Arden International in GP3 Series (Arden and Jota having sealed a partnership to develop young drivers both in car whether Endurance).
The liveries of the Oreca 05 and Gibson 015S can be viewed in our dedicated gallery.
