WEC / Le Mans – The new Audi R18 e-tron quattro makes its mark at Sebring

Audi has lifted the veil on its new R18 e-tron quattro adapted to the new regulations in force next year in WEC. The preview reveals widened front wheel arches while the diameter of the tires will be narrower in 2014. Its development began last year. This new prototype which will face the Toyota TS040, the Porsche LMP1 or the Rebellion R-One, begins its first tests today at Sebring.

“We have reached a crucial point in this project,” comments Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, head of Audi Motorsport. “After having made the first prototype, we move on to tests carried out on different circuits. These tests mainly focus on the accumulation of driving, the coordination of very complex hybrid systems and the maximum optimization of the complete package which has never been so complex. »
