WEC / Le Mans – Porsche concerned with the reliability of flow meters

Porsche expressed concerns about flow meters installed to monitor gasoline consumption following the exclusion of Daniel Ricciardo at the Australian Grand Prix. As the 919 Hybrid continues its testing in the run-up to the start of the season on April 20 at Silverstone, management is concerned about the lack of reliability in fuel consumption measurements encountered by Red Bull in Melbourne which led to the disqualification of Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull having appealed the stewards' decision). However, the regulations in force in F1 and WEC now impose an average consumption limit to be respected.

Alex Hitzinger, the technical director of Porsche Motorsport's LMP1 project, admitted to Racing Engineering that the Stuttgart manufacturer had encountered measurement problems with the equipment installed in the 919 Hybrid. “This does not slow us down because our development does not depend on that, but there is still no reliable solution in place… We should know more at the end of the month. »
