WEC / Le Mans – Toyota presents its 040 TS2015 Hybrid

World Champion WEC in title among Drivers and Manufacturers, Toyota today revealed the 2015 iteration of its LM P1 TS040 Hybrid prototype. If both crews (Anthony Davidson – Sébastien Buemi - Kazuki Nakajima on No. 1 and Mike conway – Alexander Wurz – Stéphane Sarrazin on n°2) were already known, the Japanese firm confirmed this Thursday the recruitment of Kamui Kobayashi (entered this season in Super Formula with the KYGNUS SUNOCO Team LeMans powered by Toyota) as a reserve and test driver.

On the technical side, the Toyota TS040 Hybrid 2015 will evolve like last year in the ERS 6 MJ class. Toyota is therefore banking on continuity, at a time when Audi and Porsche will respectively move up a class (from 2 to 4 MJ for Audi, when Porsche will now reach 8 MJ). The 2015 version of the Japanese LM P1 will introduce new features, particularly in terms of suspension. “The updated car is not a revolution, but an evolution, indicates technical director Pascal Vasselon. There's an obvious connection, but we redesigned about 80% of the elements. » Two aero packages have again been prepared, including one specific for Le Mans, and will be tested tomorrow at Paul Ricard in the Var for the Prologue. The various tests carried out by Toyota during the off-season, have accumulated more than 25 km.

“We want to win as many races as possible, but my main goal for this year is definitely to win Le Mans, which also contributes a lot in terms of the aim of winning the World Championship because of the double points, explains Sébastien Buemi, world champion last year with Anthony Davidson. Hopefully what we have done will be enough to stay ahead. »

The TS040 Hybrid will begin racing on April 12 at Silverstone in England.
