The day after the 6 Hours of Bahrain, the final of the WEC, three young talents will be offered a ride in an LM P1 Hybrid. Their identity was revealed today.

WEC – The three selected for the Bahrain LM P1 Rookie Test

The day after the closing of the World ChampionshipEndurance 2015, November 21 in Bahrain, WEC and its manufacturers LM P1 Audi, Porsche et Toyota will have an official session, called the “Rookie Test”. This will offer young hopefuls in the discipline the opportunity to take the wheel of a hybrid LMP1. Each of the selected drivers will be offered the opportunity to cover at least 30 laps with one of the three manufacturers. If they wish, they will also be able to test other drivers.

The selected drivers are the Briton Sam Bird and the New Zealanders Mitch Evans and Richie Stanaway, who will respectively take the wheel of the Toyota TS040 Hybrid, the Porsche 919 Hybrid and the Audi R18 e-tron quattro. If the first named is in the fight for the LM P2 title in WEC, Evans has distinguished himself in each of his appearances at the wheel of the Jota Sport Gibson, triumphing at the 6 Hours of Spa before finishing second in LM P2 in Sarthe . As for Stanaway, he has established himself as the chronometric reference of the clan Aston Martin.

All other WEC competitors who competed in the 6 Hours of Bahrain the day before will also be able to take part in these tests. A first list of participants will be published on October 15. The final list will be communicated on Monday November 9.

The two half-days of testing on Sunday, November 22 will take place from 10:00 a.m. to noon and from 13:00 p.m. to 16:00 p.m. (local time).
