WEC – Loïc Duval: “We have assets to showcase”

The No. 18 Audi R8 e-tron quattro showed itself particularly at ease at the end of August at the 6 Hours of the Nürburgring. But unfortunately this was not enough to prevent Porsche to sign the double, his second in a row after the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But at the end of the German round of WEC, Loïc duval wanted to remember only the positive elements of this getaway in the Eifel massif.

“For the first time since the start of the season, we have not encountered any major problems, the native of Chartres is satisfied. Everyone did their job well. If a few small imperfections? What are we going to try to correct? cost us second place, we must recognize that Porsche was very strong, especially the No. 17 which performed flawlessly. There is no disappointment or regret to be had. If, from an accounting point of view, it is only a fourth place, this weekend was generally positive for our Audi n°8 and I hope that we will continue this momentum from Austin."

Austin is this weekend. A race that Loïc won two years ago with Allan McNish, during a season that saw him take the world crown after triumphing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A few days before the event, the Frenchman is convinced that he and his acolytes Lucas di Grassi and Oliver Jarvis will have a card to play in Texas.

“We will do everything to redress the situation because we still have strengths to put forward, He continues. The Circuit of the Americas suits Audi well, which has two consecutive victories in Texas. For my part, it’s a route that I particularly appreciate and therefore the perfect place to bounce back. With its fast turns, this track should highlight the qualities of our R18 e-tron quattro and allow us to get the most out of it. It looks to be very close once again, but we are clearly going there with the objective of winning! »

The first free practice session is scheduled for Thursday evening at 21:45 p.m. (French time), with the start of the race being given at midnight, during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
