WEC – Mitch Evans stands out at rookie tests in Bahrain

The day after the final of WEC, several teams participate in the post-season rookie tests on the Bahrain circuit. It was Mitch Evans who was the fastest on the Porsche n°17 by completing a lap of the track in 1'42"946. The New Zealander was just over two tenths ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya who also drove the 919 Hybrid.

Anthony Davidson and Mike conway were the closest to the Porsche with both Toyota TS040 Hybrid clocking less than a second from the benchmark. Benoît Tréluyer placed the Audi R18 e-tron quattro at 1”3. Sam Bird followed more than two seconds behind in the No. 1 Toyota.

In LMP2, it was Matthew Rao who was the fastest with theAlpine A450b completing a lap of the Sakhir track in 1’53”899. Strakka Racing's Gibson 015S also ran, with Lewis Williamson falling a tenth behind while Tio Ellinas placed seven tenths behind.

Philipp Eng set the best time in the GTE Pro with a time of 2’00”349 at the wheel of the 911 RSR. The Austrian was ahead of Nick Catsburg by a few tenths. Darren Turner has worked with Fabian Hamprecht and Archie Hamilton on Aston Martin. The Briton also set the benchmark time for GTE Am.
