WEC – Porsche warns competition in Austin

The Porsches were the most efficient during the first two practice sessions for the 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin (Texas), the #18 driven by Romain Dumas having completed a lap of the track in 1'47"231 while Timo Bernhard moved up to 2 tenths on the #17 in the second session. The Stuttgart manufacturer, however, encountered a mechanical problem limiting the running of Bernhard-Hartley-Webber with a problem on the front axle.

“I only drove in the night session and focused on the relays in preparation for the race”, commented Timo Bernhard. « Traffic is hard to manage with 31 cars. Although we constantly have this difficulty to manage, I feel that it can be even more complicated on this track, particularly at night. »

Neel Jani, driver of the No. 919 18 Hybrid, like his teammates, notes the level of performance gained compared to the previous edition in 2014. “The gap is quite large. We particularly feel a better level of grip in fast corners. The lower temperatures in the evening could also be an advantage for us.”, declared the Swiss.
