WEC – Porsche prepares for the 2nd part of the season

The 2014 edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans has passed, but that is no reason to relax the pressure. Galvanized by a very fine performance from Le Mans, the Porsche Team intends to hit hard during the last five rounds of the WEC. After covering 2 km during a test session conducted at the end of July at Paul-Ricard by Marc Lieb, Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard, the Stuttgart manufacturer, spent three days, from Tuesday to Thursday, at Eurospeedway Lausitz, not far from Dresden in Germany. This time, Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Mark Webber were involved. 2 km were covered, enough to store valuable information.

“The goal each time is to improve the performance of the 919 Hybrid, emphasizes Team Principal Andreas Seidl. This was not possible before the 24 Hours of Le Mans because, focusing on reliability, we had fixed the specification of the car. However, we got a good glimpse of the car's potential in the first three rounds and learned a lot. Now we are working on all the items on our to-do list. We have successfully tested the new features introduced to all parts of the car. The introduction of our new aerodynamic evolution was important. It offers more downforce and should help us improve the car's racing performance over the remaining rounds. The team did an excellent job preparing for and carrying out these trials. Thanks to this, we were able to review the entire planned program and left very satisfied with these three days. »

At the beginning of September, a final test session will be conducted before the 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas, in Austin (Texas / USA), where the fourth of eight rounds of the WEC will be held on September 20.
