Porsche continued its tests in preparation for the opening of the season WEC. The Stuttgart manufacturer tested a new aero package at Motorland Aragon (Spain) which will be used for the first two events of the calendar with Silverstone (April 12) and Spa (May 2).
The German brand requisitioned Earl Bamber, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas, Neel Jani, Marc Lieb and Nick Tandy for these five days of testing. The pilots covered a total of 7599km despite strong winds accompanied by rather high temperatures for the season (up to 22°C). The new 919 Hybrid has you covered in total 18km since these first attempts.
“The most important thing was to test the new parts of this aero package”, says Andreas Seidl, Team Principal of Porsche LMP1. “These tests in Aragon were a mixture of endurance and performance in preparation for the first two races of the season. We also focused on the behavior of the Michelin tires, training the mechanics with pit stops and driver changes, while bringing experience to the latter. We ran our first race simulations with the new car. We have resolved some weak points in view of 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 13 and 14). »
The livery of the Porsche 919 Hybrid will be presented on March 26 at Paul-Ricard (Var), on the eve of the WEC Prologue.
