WEC – Rebellion satisfied after testing

Rebellion Racing showed itself to be the most successful team behind the manufacturers Audi and Toyota who were absent this week at Castellet. The Lola B12/60 Coupe-Toyota which was driven by Nicolas Cheers and Neel Jani held off the HPD ARX-03c of Strakka Racing which will face the Swiss team this year for the private LMP1 trophy. The Swiss set the best time in practice with a time of 1'43"521 while Danny Watts was only half a second closer with the British team's LMP1.

However, the Rebellion team did not seek to establish the best times in the tests contested in mixed conditions, whether on a dry or wet track, day or night. The Swiss team had to validate the developments made to its LMP1, notably with new wing extension fins similar to those made on the new Audi R18 e-tron quattro and Toyota TS030 and a reworked front end. Two weeks before the start of the season with the 6 Hours of Silverstone, the team feels ready to return to the deep end.

“We had some good tests.”, assured Neel Jani “We wanted to evaluate the new elements and we are happy with it. It was a good opportunity to do this before Silverstone and the team is happy with the work accomplished. It’s always a good thing to be at the top of the timesheet, which we did in all five practice sessions. » His teammate Nicolas Prost shares this feeling of optimism before going to Great Britain. “I am really happy with the tests carried out at Paul Ricard,” added the son of the four-time world champion F1 Alain Prost. “We completed our program with the new aero package brought here. With the track dry and wet during the two days of testing, we tested the car with all types of Michelin tires. This could be very useful for the upcoming races at Silverstone and Spa. The speed of the car was good and this is promising for the future. »
