WEC: Signatech Alpine confirms his crew

One last chance for Nicolas lapierre to pick up the 24 Hours of Le Mans ? As we reveal in theth AUTOhebdo magazine of the week, Lapierre will make his return to Signatech Alpine on the occasion of the 2021 season of WEC, which sees the arrival of the team in the premier category.

World champion with Alpine in LMP2 in 2016 and 2019, the Frenchman switched to Cool Racing last year, as driver, manager and now co-owner. Pilot at Toyota between 2012 and 2014, Lapierre already has excellent knowledge of the premier category.

In L'Alpine A480 LM P1 (ex Rebellion) entered in the Hypercar category, he will reunite with his friend Andre Negrao placeholder image, with whom he shared numerous victories for the Blues.

The crew will be completed by the Frenchman Matthieu Vaxiviere, an experienced competitor in Endurance with 4 participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, crowned by two podiums in the LMP2 category in 2019 and 2020.

“Our choice fell on drivers who complement each other in terms of experience, and whose personality must guarantee a spirit of cohesion in all circumstances,” commented Philippe Sinault, the team principal. If Nicolas and André know each other well and have demonstrated their ability to work together by prioritizing the team, the choice of Matthieu Vaxiviere quickly became obvious as his human qualities and his burst of speed are recognized within the paddock.

The crew of theAlpine A480 n°36 will be on track on March 30 and 31 at the Portimão Circuit (Portugal) for the official FIA WEC prologue, before competing in the first race on April 4 on the same circuit.
