WEC – Toyota: “It will be difficult, that’s for sure”

While Toyota remember his poor result in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with a sixth place as the best result, the WEC will resume its rights after the break of more than two months with the 6 Hours of the Nürburgring contested on August 30. The Japanese brand did not miss the test session organized on the German circuit last month in order to optimize the settings of its TS040.

But in the face of Audi and to the new Porsche aero package, Toyota remains aware that a place at the forefront will not be easy to obtain. “We will attack hard to fight against Audi and Porsche. It will be difficult, that's for sure, but we will do our best to face them”, said Toshio Sato, the president of the team. “Our testing at the Nürburgring went well. We want to start the second part of the WEC season with a positive result. »

Kazuki Nakajima hopes that the lack of experience of the teams will reduce the gaps. “It won’t be easy but it’s a new circuit for the WEC. Maybe this will provide some opportunities.”, considered the driver of the No. 1. His teammate Sébastien Buemi, currently selected for testing of the Formula E in Donington (Great Britain) with Renault e.dams, turns rather towards the sky. “The weather is very special in the Eifel region, that’s the only thing that worries me. I remember one time in May when we couldn't do any testing because of the snow. I'm sure we won't have any snow this weekend, but you never know what the weather will bring at the Nürburgring.", recalled the Swiss.
