WEC – Trummer discovering endurance with Lotus

Simon Trummer prepares to compete in his first race in Endurance by participating next week in the 6 Hours of Bahrain at the wheel of the CLM/P1. The 25-year-old Swiss will share the wheel of the LMP1-L with Nathanaël Berthon and Pierre Kaffer. Accustomed to single-seaters, the Swiss driver is competing this season in the GP2 Series with Rapax with whom he occupies 26th place in the Drivers' Championship before the final in Abu Dhabi on November 22 and 23.

“After several seasons in car, I decided to face a new challenge which is a great opportunity to help the team develop its prototype”, commented Simon Trummer. “I also have to admit that endurance has always fascinated me. It is too early to talk about objectives in Bahrain but I at least have the advantage of knowing the track well since I finished in second place in the GP2 sprint race this season. Endurance is brand new to me. I will follow the new procedures to the letter and try to quickly familiarize myself with my new team. »

Simon Trummer can only hope for an improvement in the performance of the CLM/P1 which was slower than the LMP2 in Shanghai (China). “We have followed Simon’s career over the last few years and view him as a driver with the talent needed for a successful endurance career.”, added Boris Bermes, Lotus operations director. “We intend to provide him with a springboard into the sport as a privateer LMP1 team and we look forward to seeing what he can do in Bahrain. »
