Peugeot Asked 24 Hours of Le Mans ? It's for now... but not in real life! Indeed, the French manufacturer is preparing to compete in its first virtual race with the 3e edition of the Virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans with an Oreca 07 in LMP2.

For the occasion, the Lion decided to pull out all the stops. Gustavo Menezes, holder WEC on the 9X8, will be associated with Malthe Jakobsen for the professional drivers. The Brazilian and the Dane will be able to rely on specialists in the field, the French Valentin Mandernach and Maxime Brient.

« A few days before this international event, they share their preparation and their ambitions, » specifies Peugeot which will receive the support of R8G, the sim racing structure of Romain Grosjean. In recent days, the four men have gotten to know each other virtually as they have had the opportunity to train together.

Peugeot strengthens

« There are many similarities between the two disciplines but also some differences., points out a member of R8G which supervises Peugeot Esports for this first participation in the Virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans. The proof will be the simulation specialists who will carry out the setup adjustments, not the professional pilots who do not know all the subtleties of simulation. One thing is certain: none of them are here to play. Everyone wants to perform. We want sim racers and pro drivers to have fun."

It is not only in the drivers that Peugeot wanted to strengthen itself. In addition to Gustavo Menezes, Malthe Jakobsen, Valentin Mandernach and Maxime Brient, the Versailles-Satory (Yvelines) manufacturer called on Kevin Lacour (performance engineer of the Peugeot 9X8 No. 93 on the WEC program).

Ambition. This is what Peugeot is attacking its first Virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans with. As for the real race, we will have to wait a little longer to see what the Lion can really achieve in Sarthe.
