Two days after his near-victory at the Nürburgring, Max Verstappen prepares to travel to Japan to compete in the third round of the world championship Formula 1But before heading to the Land of the Rising Sun, the Dutchman took the opportunity to announce a change in another of his passions: sim racing. A big fan of virtual driving, the driver Red Bull has taken over Team Redline, founded in 2000 by Dom Duhan and which has become the most successful sim racing organization in the world, with two consecutive Esports World Cup titles in 2024 and 2025, PESC titles in 2022, 2024 and 2025, as well as the championship IMSA Esports Global GTP in 2025 with BMW.

In line with "Building a unified racing ecosystem covering all forms of motorsport, from GT3 to the virtual world"Team Redline is officially renamed Verstappen Sim Racing. “Sim racing is a great passion of mine outside of Formula 1, and Team Redline has always been a part of it.” explains Max Verstappen. “This is where I spend a lot of time off the track, and it’s part of what I’m building with Verstappen Racing. This move to Verstappen Sim Racing is a very natural one. We’re taking everything we’ve achieved and integrating it further into the overall Verstappen Racing platform. I’ve always believed that sim racing can develop real talent, and we’re already seeing proof of that with Chris Lulham. I’m really excited to continue building on the team’s success and see what the future holds.”

Chris Lulham, who rose to fame in virtual racing, has since made the leap to the real world: in 2025, under the Verstappen Racing program in the GT World Challenge Europe, Lulham won his class at the 24 Hours of Spa and secured the Gold Cup titles in Endurance and in Sprint alongside Thierry Vermeulen. He had also won alongside Max Verstappen in the Dutchman's first official race in 2025.

“Building on the legacy of Team Redline, Verstappen Sim Racing represents the next step in an era where sim racing is a true breeding ground for real-world motorsport talent.”, salutes Atze Kerkhof, CEO of Verstappen Sim Racing, in reference to Chris Lulham’s successful transition from video games to track racing. "I am excited for the future and eager to continue to grow and develop this team."

“I am proud to see everything Team Redline has built continue under the name Verstappen Sim Racing,” Dom Duhan, for his part, appreciates the founder of the structure. "After years of developing and guiding the team, this transition appears as a natural evolution, one that will continue to inspire and shape the next generation of motorsport talent."
