Back on pole, Lando Norris remains measured before the race

Although he once again outpaced the rest of his teammates, Lando Norris seemed less confident when talking about the race, aware that the field risks becoming more balanced.

Don't look, Lando Norris is the happiest man in the peloton at the moment. A week after Zandvoort, the rider McLaren did it again in qualifying by securing his second pole position in a row, the 4th of the season and the 5th of his career.

Here is the dolphin of Max Verstappen more than ever in the running for a 3rd victory in 2024 and with the possibility of striking a big blow in the championship while his rival will only start 7th this Sunday (15:00 p.m.). A result he did not expect at all, himself disappointed with his last lap in qualifying.

« Another pole, that's fantastic, smiled-he. As Oscar said, having both cars in the top two positions when the field has been very tight since the beginning of the weekend is a nice surprise. Congratulations to the whole team, they did an outstanding job.

Honestly, my lap… It pains me to say that it wasn’t a very good one. The first in Q3 was, the second was a bit more difficult but ultimately enough to be on pole. Hence my surprise but I’m still very happy with it »

As for the race, Lando Norris dreams of living an identical scenario even if the task will be a little more difficult.

"[We aim] the same thingHe says. It would be great anyway. But as we have seen since the beginning of the weekend, it is very close. There are a lot of fast riders behind us, at the same level as us, so I don't expect an easy race tomorrow. There are a lot of unknowns going into the race like the degradation. A lot of questions but probably a lot of excitement, I am sure. »
