Renault is a little cooler. The French team, author of a good race marked by the entry into the points of its two cars in England, approaches the German round with a certain confidence. Daniel Riccardo (7th) and Nico Hulkenberg (10th) allow Renault to maintain its fifth place in the constructors' championship (39 points), ahead of Alfa Roméo (26 points), but behind McLaren (60 points).
A performance faithful to the work carried out by the team during this first half of the season: “We had a car rather well balanced at Silverstone. The pilots were happy and we could put relatively little angle on the ailerons. […] However, we had solid pace and balance in the race at Silverstone”, Explain Cyril Abiteboul.

Arriving at Hockenheim, Renault nevertheless expects to face numerous challenges, notably the weather: “It is often very hot at this time of year in Central Europe as we have seen in France and Austria. When you have balance problems, the heat aggravates your loss of grip, causes more slips and you fall into a vicious circle. […] So our aim will be to have a well-balanced car and we will aim for a similar end result to Silverstone given the form we showed there. » Cyril Abiteboul nevertheless wants to be very positive for the future: “We will do everything to achieve better results. »
Probably one of my toughest points in F1 so far after a strategic misjudgment, a hit by Checo and an engine issue.. Home GP next!#F1 #BritishGP #Silverstone

For his part, Nico Hülkenberg says he is very happy to return to the country: “It's always motivating to shine in front of your fans and your compatriots who encourage us and want us to achieve a great result. We had an excellent race last year in Germany (6th). » The German is also happy with his result at Silverstone, although he believes there is still room for improvement: “It was a good team result with Daniel and I in the points. However, we are always looking to do better and more and perhaps we have fallen short in this regard. »
Daniel Ricciardo expects a difficult, but promising race: “We want to launch a dynamic for Germany and then Hungary before the summer break. This is a key phase, because we are aware that the peloton is very competitive and that we must score points regularly, both to keep in touch with our opponents and to beat them. »
