Adderly Fong with Sauber in free practice in Abu Dhabi

The first free practice session of the final of the 2014 season of the World Championship F1 will be an opportunity to see the Chinese Adderly Fong on the track at the wheel of the Sauber C33, powered by the turbo/hybrid V6 Ferrari. Fong recently obtained his super-license during a test in Valencia, Spain at the end of October. The team has not yet indicated who Fong would replace between Adrian Sutil and Esteban Gutiérrez.

“I am very happy to make my F1 debut in Abu Dhabi, but also at the same time a little nervous, explains the 24-year-old pilot. Last month I drove the Sauber C31 for the first time in Valencia, and it was good to build up the miles so I could get used to the speed of a car of F1. Obviously, the C33 is different, because it is a car with a turbo V6 engine. It will be interesting to see how the brake-by-wire braking system and ERS work. As I will only have 90 minutes in FP1, I will not have much time to get used to the car. However, being able to drive during a Formula One weekend is a great privilege, and I am very happy to have the opportunity. I already know the track since last year I ran a GP3 race. »

Lined up in Germany in the GP3 Series within the Jenzer Motorsport team, Fong also participated this season in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last June, with the Oak Racing Team Asia in the Ligier JS P2, also driven by his compatriots David Cheng and Ho-Pin Tung.
