Adrian Sutil, the spoilsport

On the Nürburgring circuit, German drivers race at home. While they represent a quarter of the plateau of F1 (5 out of 20 pilots), they experienced varying fortunes. Disappointment for Timo Glock (20th) and Nico Rosberg (15th), as well as for Sebastian Vettel (4th), who was aiming for pole. For his part, Adrian Sutil had a superb Saturday of competition.

Qualified at the last minute (14th) at the end of Q1, the driver of the modest Force India then set off at the right time in Q2, to set a time placing him in third position! In Q3, Sutil then achieved a remarkable seventh time, ahead of both Ferrari of Räikkönen and Massa and the Renault by Piquet. There was then a big surprise when the weight of the cars was revealed. Adrian Sutil, with 678,5kg, has the heaviest car of the drivers in the top 10. He will therefore have his card to play in the race, since he should stop after his rivals.

The Force India driver confirmed, at the end of this session, his feelings about this performance. “ I am very happy, for sure the happiest F1 driver. This is my?? race and it?s my best performance in qualifying. The conditions were very difficult but our choices were the right ones. In Q2, we took a risk with the slick tires, putting them on earlier than the others, but that allowed us to set the third fastest time. And, even with the fuel in Q3, it went very well. I am very happy for the team because we have worked hard over the last few months. Now we have to score points! » There is no doubt that Adrian Sutil will be overmotivated, in front of his audience, not to let this golden opportunity pass him by.
