Are we experiencing the last French Grand Prix weekend for a while? For the moment, it is still too early to confirm it but the French meeting could lose part of its importance within the Formula 1.

With the French Grand Prix at the end of its contract, its leaders have still not found common ground with F1 and Liberty Media for an extension while time flies and requests from various countries flourish from all sides. Currently, a rotation system with other rounds is being discussed so that the French event maintains its place on the calendar in the coming years.

Alain Prost supports the French Grand Prix

Asked to react about the future of the French Grand Prix, Alain Prost has positioned himself as a fervent supporter of the Grand Prix which he won 6 times during his career. The Professor, winner in Dijon-Prenois, Castellet and Magny-Cours, was disappointed by the attitude of some while the national meeting is more threatened than ever. According to him, some of them lack objectivity when it comes to maintaining the French round on the F1 program.

« We must not hide our faces, he advances at the microphone of Canal +. There is little objectivity when reading different things. The teams are not all very objective and we cannot say that they really defend the French Grand Prix. For what ? Because there are races that give a lot more money, much, much more... This money is distributed between the teams.

Is this a total shutdown? We are talking about alternating between three or four Grands Prix like Spa or Hockenheim in the years to come. It’s better than nothing, that’s for sure, but it’s quite a complicated subject because people aren’t always very honest about the situation.. » The message got through.
