Albert Park version 2.0. For the first time since Adelaide moved to Melbourne in 1996, the Australian Grand Prix will “ undergo its greatest changes (...) delivering an all-new on-track spectacle for fans in 2021» as announced in recent weeks.
These changes concern a large part of the circuit. In fact, 7 of the 16 turns at Albert Park will be modified, including two entirely (10 and 13). This layout update should provide more overtaking opportunities but also promote faster and more competitive racing.
Turn 6 will be widened by 7,5 meters which will increase the passing speed by 70 km/h, from 149 to 219 km/h according to forecasts.
We will also have to say goodbye to the chicane at turns 9 and 10, replaced by a straight line, the longest on the circuit, and potentially a new DRS zone.
The planned changes to Turn 13 should also result in new overtaking opportunities according to Australian officers. As for turns 1, 3 and 15, they will be widened while the inclination of turns 1, 13 and 15 will be readjusted.

And at the test venue Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) to continue. “ Race days will be more exciting for everyone. This is what we all want and I think these changes are going in that direction ».
Work will continue over the coming weeks before Formula 1 arrives for the Australian Grand Prix on November 28.
