Albon: “I know Red Bull still trusts me”

Put in the closet Alex Albon ? No way ! "They [Red Bull] would have gotten rid of me – let's be honest – if they hadn't believed in me, said the one who was still running Formula 1 last year at Red Bull. So, from my side, I know they still trust me, they still trust what I can do and we just have to see how things go this year and for next year.

Disembarked at the end of last year from the Red Bull team for the benefit of Sergio Pérez, Alex Albon was not even able to find a wheel at Alpha Tauri, which preferred to integrate the Japanese Yuki tsunoda. But the pilot who will celebrate his 25th birthday this year is not dejected. “I've been through this kind of situation many times during my racing career, so it hasn't been that dark, let's say,” he said of the situation.

He still believes in his chances of rebounding. “It’s not just about getting back to it anymore. I have confidence in myself, I know I can bounce back and that's my goal. It's no secret that it was a difficult car and a difficult season. Part of me knows full well that if I could have been more comfortable with the car, the performance would have been much better. My answer is not so much to think 'why this and why that', but rather to think 'what can I do now to get back to it' and fight for it."

Alex Albon continued to progress during the winter at the wheel of the RB16B and is still carrying out tests. “I will be at the track every race so I can at least understand from an engineering perspective how the team works on a deeper scale.”

This season, Albon will compete for the championship DTM this season with a Ferrari 488 GT3 incubated by AF Corse, under the Red Bull umbrella.
