Aldo Costa to leave his post at Mercedes

Mercedes F1 published a press release in which it announced several important changes within its technical department.

While James Allison will retain his position as technical director, Aldo Costa will leave his position as technical advisor and director of engineering next year. The 57-year-old Italian who previously worked for Minardi and Ferrari made this choice to devote more time to his family life according to the statements of the star manufacturer and will retain a consulting role.

Performance Director Mark Ellis joined Brackley since 2014 after six seasons with Red Bull Racing will leave his position to take mid-year leave next year. He will be replaced by Loic Serra, currently head of vehicle aerodynamics. Conversely, chief designer John Owens will become director of the engineering department.

“This succession within the organization is based on the internal capabilities built in recent years. They allow us to identify and develop our future leaders within the team. These changes have been made with the full agreement of all those involved”, assures the press release.
