Absent at the last minute from the Italian Grand Prix due to an attack of appendicitis and replaced at short notice by Nyck de Vries, Alex Albon will return to Singapore this weekend. The Briton, who races under a Thai license, was indeed deemed fit to return to competition after a 3-week convalescence period.

« I would first like to thank everyone for all the messages and support they gave me during the Italian Grand Prix weekend, advanced the Williams driver who had to modify his preparation program after his last minute operation and the complications that followed. My preparation for Singapore has been a little different than normal, but I feel good and have done everything possible to be ready for one of the most physical races on the calendar.

I'm not underestimating the scale of the challenge, but I can't wait to get on the track on Friday and get back behind the wheel. It's a big street circuit and the closest race to my home in Thailand, so I'm really excited to be here and see the fans who came out."

Despite this green light from the medical teams, Alex Albon's condition will need to be monitored after the first free practice session (12:00 p.m.-13:00 p.m.). On a street circuit as fast as it is bumpy where the humidity is more than present, the Londoner could possibly suffer and not be fit to compete in the Singapore Grand Prix. Nyck de Vries will be present on site due to his obligations with Mercedes and could be recalled in the event of a relapse of his counterpart.
