Alexander Albon talks about his accident: “It all happened so quickly”

Alexander Albon spoke about his accident at the British Grand Prix / DPPI

Evacuated by helicopter at Coventry Hospital after his accident at Silverstone, during the British Grand Prix, Alexander albon is better and will indeed be behind the wheel of the Williams FW44 this weekend, during the Austrian Grand Prix. “ I feel good, reassured the Thai. I took advantage of the last few days to recover well. This Wednesday, I was in the simulator to prepare for the Red Bull Ring (…). We can not wait to be there. Being a Red Bull driver, it's a circuit I know well. On paper, it's a track that has worked quite well for Williams in the past, George (Russell) had excellent qualifying here. This circuit should therefore suit us more than others. It is ideal for testing our new aero package, with a good mix of low and very high speed cornering. It's a circuit on which we chase hundredths of a second more than tenths so, if we perform well, we will have an interesting race. » Alexander Albon also reveals that Williams will carry out tire tests after the Grand Prix. “ It's positive for us, to accumulate rolling with our aerodynamic package.«

On his way to Austria, Alexander Albon quickly spoke of the accident he suffered at Silverstone. Torpedoed in the rear by Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin), the Thai had hit the pit wall on the straight before returning to the track, in distress, and hitting the cars ofEsteban Ocon (Alpine) and of Yuki tsunoda (Alpha Tauri). " Everything happened so quickly. I only really saw what happened when I saw the replays of the crash (…) Fortunately, all the drivers involved are OK. And our aerodynamic package can be saved. For my part, I feel normal. We work quietly with Patrick, my performance coach, to ensure I am at my best physical level in Austria. But, to reassure everyone, I only went to the hospital for precautionary tests. I only had bumps and bruises, nothing major. I was playing sudoku on my hospital bed with Lily, my friend, and watching the race on my phone.«
