Alguersuari, two races before shining

Jaime Alguersuari is proud of his beginnings in Formula 1. For a first weekend in the premier single-seater category, the young 19-year-old Spaniard did not make the slightest driving error and finished the race ahead of his teammate, Sébastien Buemi. The new arrival at Toro Rosso is therefore delighted. “ I am really very happy to have finished the race, he commented after it. But the last five laps were really complicated from a physical point of view. Keeping the car on pace was difficult but I'm happy. Finishing fifteenth is not so bad, but the main objective was to cover the 70 laps, without making any mistakes and keeping the pace. I learned a lot but there are certain aspects of F1 that make me say “me? how hard it is! » »

For his part, Franz Tost, manager of Toro Rosso, is pleased with the clean race of his young driver. While he had recently declared that he did not expect a result before three races, Tost would like the Spaniard to climb into the first fifteen drivers in qualifying by the Italian Grand Prix (September 13). “ It's a good thing that Jaime finished his first race, he learned a lot this weekend. That was our goal with him. He still needs two races, after which I expect him to make it to Q2. » For Jaime Alguersuari, learning will therefore have to happen quickly.
