Alguersuari: “I need experience”

Do you think your seasons in F3 British and in the World Series by Renault allowed you to arrive in F1 ?
British F3 is really a great championship, you find difficult and attractive circuits there, but the weather conditions are also a real challenge! You learn a lot there. It?s a long championship with a lot of tests. So you gain a lot of experience of circuits but you also learn a lot about developing a car, which I think will help me. British F3 was very important in my career and I will never forget it. The World Series is completely different. Some drivers have been in the championship longer than me, which gives them an advantage. I am a young driver, always in the top 5 and working hard, so I think we are doing well for our first season.

Are you going to continue your program in Formula Renault 3.5, in addition to Formula 1 races?
I think that's the goal. I'm a young driver, so I need to do as many races as possible. I need experience in different situations. For me, this is of course a good thing because it will give me more experience. There is no conflict with Formula 1. If it becomes a problem, we will reconsider things.

Do you think it will be a problem switching from one car to another?
Usually, it's best to stick to one car. But it might be better for me to drive two cars, to learn as best as possible. I know that Red Bull will make the best decision for me. The main thing is to learn.

Obviously, F1 will be your priority. But what are your objectives for the rest of the season in the World Series by Renault?
I'm a young driver, I'm only 19, so I need to do a lot of racing. I really want to win the World Series. I need more races, more experience and, every weekend, I gain some. It?s surely a very good thing for me to race in F1.

Did you think, 18 months ago when you tested British F3, that you could make your F1 debut so soon?
No never ! It's a dream come true. What I have to do now is to take advantage of this opportunity and work hard. This is a fantastic opportunity offered to me. I have to take advantage of it and prove myself worthy of the trust that Red Bull has placed in me.
