Allison: “Contributing to the future of F1”

James, how do you feel after being unanimously elected Chairman of the FOTA Technical Working Group?
It?s rather impressive. My predecessors in this position have set high standards and it is important to perform this task well.

What will your role be?

The Technical Working Group uses the technical skills of the teams to contribute to the future of the F1, in the medium and long term. As president, my job is to lead the Group's meetings in a well-organized manner. I also hope to continue the work of my predecessors by working for a constructive relationship with the body which makes the technical regulations for F1, the FIA Technical Working Group.

How will you manage this in parallel with your main activity as Technical Director of LRGP?
FOTA is an organization that always tries to act constructively in the interest of sport. Participating in its actions takes a little time and energy, but everyone agrees that this commitment is worth it. Also, accepting this role does not greatly change the level of involvement required. All technical directors are part of the FOTA Technical Working Group. We all need to find time to prepare for and attend meetings. During meetings, it is also a habit for technical directors to volunteer to take their free time or to use their team's resources to carry out a technical study. This work is shared equally, but as president, I have the advantage of being helped in the preparation of meetings by the very efficient secretary of FOTA, Simone Perillo.
