Alonso absent from news launch Alpine

Fernando Alonso will not take part in the launch of the new Alpine A521 Tuesday March 2. Recently injured during a cycling trip in Switzerland, the double Spanish world champion had to undergo an operation on his jaw before remaining 48 hours under observation in hospital.

Alonso then continued his convalescence at home and then resumed training in preparation for the winter tests in Bahrain (March 12-14) where Alpine expects to find it fully operational. The Asturian Bull has since posted photos of himself in full physical preparation.

Alpine however indicated this Friday that the Iberian pilot, who is preparing to make his return to F1 after 2 years of absence, will be absent during the presentation of the A521.

« We regret to confirm that Fernando Alonso will not be present at the press conference on the sidelines of the event, specifies the French team. The health situation and the rules in force do not allow him to participate in marketing and communication activities as he continues his preparation for the season ».

Esteban Ocon will be there on Tuesday, just like Laurent Red, new director ofAlpine, Davide Brivio, recruited as competition director this winter, and Marcin Budkowski, executive director.
