With the introduction of sprint races or even upcoming changes to cars for the 2022 season, F1 is about to enter a new era with the main ambition of reducing the gaps between the different teams. Fernando Alonso, whose career began in 2001 and who has experienced several changes in regulations since those beginnings, gives his opinion on the performance gaps. “What we need to address, and probably as early as next year, is the difference between the cars”. The Spaniard regrets a lack of suspense for the fight for the podium. “Today, if you have the chance to drive a competitive car, you only fight with your teammate, and not with the other teams, and you will end up on the podium in 95% of the races you do in the world. 'year »

At the wheel of a car of Formula 1 which continues to undergo modifications, Fernando Alonso affirms that he considers himself still learning. “You learn so much along the way about how to handle situations. Over the last three or four years, you learn about the system and how it works. Then the next step is to maximize the car's potential. And at the start of every season, everything is reset and you have to relearn certain things. So you are constantly improving as a driver ». The double world champion, who will once again drive for Alpine next season, will therefore have the opportunity to discover the 1 version of the F2022 single-seater.
