The stewards had warned the drivers not to slow down in the last two corners, however it was a dangerous scene there which caused the elimination in Q2 of Fernando Alonso. The Spanish driver was improving when he crossed paths with Sebastian Vettel, in slow motion in the last corner. The pilot Alpine will finally only start from 14th position.

“Today we lost a great opportunity to get into a very good position… much better than last week, regrets Alonso. I could have aimed for 5th or 6th place I think.”

Very angry when crossing the line, Fernando Alonso however does not want to point the finger at Sebastian Vettel but rather at the engineers.

“It was an unlucky situation with Seb (Vettel). His team should have conveyed the information to him better. It's not Vettel's fault. As a pilot we listen to what our engineers say. Starting 14th will be a huge challenge and we will give everything to get back into the top 10 tomorrow.”

The Bull of Asturias will have a lot to do tomorrow if he wants to continue his good series of top 10 finishes. Sebastian Vettel risks receiving a penalty on the grid. But it is not the only one since Valtteri Bottas et Carlos Sainz will also be summoned by the commissioners for this mishap.
