Alonso maintains best time at Silverstone

The sky was not kind in the afternoon above Silverstone, for the end of the first day of private testing on the British track. The drivers particularly sought to accumulate laps, without being able to improve the best time achieved this morning by Fernando Alonso (McLaren).

The ranking has not changed, since Esteban Ocon (Mercedes) ranks second, not without having been the most diligent on the track with more than 120 laps on the counter of the W07 Hybrid. Alex Lynn (Williams) completes the top three in front Charles Leclerc, who only completed two short laps in the afternoon with Ferrari.

Nikita mazepin did not return to the track after the break with Force India, but retained fifth position with 35 laps completed. Next Carlos Sainz Jr. (Toro Rosso), Santino Ferrucci (Haas), and Pascal Wehrlein, aligned on a 2014 Mercedes with tests on behalf of Pirelli, and the development of 2017 tires.

Rio Haryanto (Manor), Sergey Sirotkin (Renault) and Pierre Gasly (Red Bull), who tested the Halo this morning, bring up the rear. The teams will return to the track tomorrow, with some changes in the entry list, since Kimi Räikkönen is expected at Ferrari, Stoffel Vandoorne at McLaren, Valtteri Bottas at Williams, while Jolyon Palmer will return to the seat of the Renault RS16. Jordan King at Manor and Sergio Sette Camara with Toro Rosso are also expected to start.
