Fernando Alonso took advantage of the soggy conditions at Interlagos to claim third place on the grid for the Brazilian Grand Prix between the Mercedes by Nico Rosberg and the Red Bull by Mark Webber. The pilot of the Team Ferrari actually managed to beat the Australian's Red Bull by a few hundredths. But if he failed by more than four tenths of the first W04, the double world champion remains disappointed with his performance since he believes that the first row was within his reach.
The Spaniard blames himself for having made an error in his flying lap which certainly cost him second place on the grid. “I have mixed feelings. I'm happy to be so well placed on the grid because we started between seventh and tenth place in the last five or six Grands Prix. This situation was far from ideal so being in the top three is a good thing, but I'm not completely satisfied with my lap. I lost a lot of time, not enough to beat Seb (Hag) which is too far from us, but I think second place would not have been difficult to achieve. I lost seven or eight tenths in turn 4 by going off the track and driving over a painted area. I am not sad with this position which offers us many opportunities for tomorrow. We are normally a little better when conditions are wet. We've been waiting for wet races this year and it's only coming to Brazil. »
The start of the Brazilian Grand Prix will be given tomorrow at 17 p.m. and will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr. Photos of the tests can be found on this link.
