Alonso suffered again in testing

Fernando Alonso was not seen much on track for the first day of winter testing of the 2017 season of F1. The double world champion was only able to cover 29 laps, setting the 10th fastest time of the day after suffering serious mechanical problems requiring the replacement of the Power Unit during the day, the car suffering from an oil leak.

“It’s hard to have feelings at the moment, admitted the Asturian. The only conclusion I can draw is that the cars are nice, they are quicker in the corners, and it's a good thing to regain downforce and be able to attack a little more at the limit. »

“We used very conservative settings in order to carefully climb the pace and verify that all systems were operational. We are not able to learn from the Power Unit because we are not running the version that should be installed in the car. I hope Honda will quickly find solutions for this week to be ready for Australia. »

Fernando Alonso should give way to his teammate Stoffel Vandoorne this Tuesday, February 28 before returning to the wheel of the McLaren MCL32 the following day.
