Alonso began his 2021 preparation with a simulator day at Enstone

Since his last visit, the places have changed a lot but he hasn't had much trouble getting his bearings again. Especially since many faces were not unfamiliar to him.

Ahead of his return to competition F1 with his stable of heart Renault, who will become Alpine in 2021, Fernando Alonso went to the chassis department ofenstone (United Kingdom) then to the Viry-Châtillon engine factory (Essonne).

In England, the double Iberian world champion completed a full day in the team simulator, which did not exist during his previous experience under the colors of the Losange, molded his seat, then met the engineers from the technical department of the team, before visiting the wind tunnel.

South of Paris, Alonso visited the test benches as well as the construction workshops for the tricolor thrusters. He also had the opportunity to reunite with his former racing engineer, Rémi Taffin, who has since become technical director in charge of the engine.

« These three days in Enstone and Viry allowed both parties to reconnect and lay foundations very early on., commented Cyril Abiteboul, Renault team principal also present to exchange with Alonso. This will be essential to start the 2021 season on the right foot, a key year in our progression as a team. »
