Alonso: “Have a great race”

Fernando, what does this pole mean to you, here at Monza, with Ferrari ?
This is a very special week for me. Fans are very passionate about Ferrari, and around me too! It is undoubtedly the ideal circuit to take pole position, to achieve this double result, first and third (Felipe Massa is 3rd on the grid). But it is today that we will have to do the bulk of our work.

Is the fervor that reigns around you here in Monza the same as in Spain?
Yes, it's a little surprise for me because it's a bit the same as in Spain. Everyone is very passionate. It is very good. We have to have a great race for everyone here, the engineers, the team, the public.

What explains your pole position, the first of the season?
We arrived with a perfect package. There was something we realized after Spa that wasn't working there. The car has evolved a lot since the last Grand Prix. This is also a very special circuit where special aerodynamic settings are required and Ferrari seems to have found something that works well here.
