Alonso: miracles don't exist in F1

Fernando Alonso showed himself to be realistic about the prospects for results of McLaren at the Australian GP played this weekend on the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne. The double world champion is not optimistic about the performance and reliability of the MCL32 after difficult tests for the Woking team in Barcelona (Spain).

“It’s frustrating and I’m not happy with the situation, commented Fernando Alonso in the paddock of the Australian GP. This is how it is and we can only hope to improve the situation. I have already asked the team to have a strong and rapid reaction because no one offers you a day or even an hour in F1. We must do better and raise our level to hope to meet the challenge. »

Alonso expects tough weekend

Fernando Alonso nevertheless remains aware of the efforts made by both McLaren and Honda, whose Power Unit is the main weak point of the MCL32.

“The team has worked very hard over the last two weeks to improve the situation and arrive a little better prepared to race here, but I don't think there are any miracles in F1 that happen in the space of two weeks. So I'm expecting a difficult weekend where we know the problems to be solved. »

“It will be the race, we will no longer be in testing, recalled the McLaren driver. We could very well have many withdrawals and we must approach this event by seeking to improve our knowledge and draw something positive from this meeting. »

The 2016 Australian GP saw 6 drivers retire. The 2015 edition was more brutal with only 11 cars finishing.
