Alonso: McLaren should fight for podiums

After a difficult 2015 season, Fernando Alonso impatiently waiting for McLaren progresses in performance with its Honda Power Unit. The Asturian seems confident about the progress of the Woking team next year.

“We have carried out work on the simulator with the aero department and I am very positive for next year”, confided the double world champion on Sky Sports. “We went through difficult times in 2015 and I think we found the solutions to our problems, at least in theory. Next season should be much better and our goal is to fight for the Championship or at least for podiums. »

If Ron Dennis, the director of the McLaren group, considered in the paddock of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that Fernando Alonso would take a sabbatical next year, the Asturian maintained that he would be present on the starting grids.

“It's true that Ron said something like that on Friday, but he said the opposite on Saturday so it's not news. We (with Jenson Button) must use all our experience and knowledge acquired in F1 to help the team progress and improve the situation as quickly as possible. While things are getting better, it would make no sense to take a year off and miss an opportunity to be very competitive next year.", underlined Fernando Alonso.
