Fernando Alonso acknowledges having been surprised by the tenure of Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo in Toro Rosso in place of Jaime Alguersuari and Sébastien Buemi. However, the Asturian does not want to judge the decision of the Faenza team based on his lack of knowledge of the situation within the Italian team.
“I don’t really have an opinion on that.”, comments the compatriot of Jaime Alguersuari. “I don’t know how Toro Rosso worked and if they were happy with their drivers. I was surprised like everyone else that they suddenly changed their two starters because the teams usually maintain a certain consistency. The replacement of the two drivers is a new start for them. But I was also surprised that Sutil didn't stay and the same goes for the other drivers. However, I understand the fact that Toro Rosso is a kind of team Red Bull for young drivers and that they only have two places to fill per season. »
