After the worry, the first news is reassuring. Accidented Thursday while on a bike ride in Switzerland, Fernando Alonso immediately went to the hospital.
In a press release sent this Friday, Alpine informs us that the medical examinations of its pilot revealed a fracture to the upper jaw. The Spaniard subsequently underwent successful reconstructive surgery.
Alonso will now remain under observation for 48 hours in hospital. He will then be kept at complete rest for several days. The double world champion, who is making his comeback in F1 this season, will then resume training.
Alpine assures that the Asturian will be fully operational to start the season and participate in the winter tests in Bahrain (March 12-14), which precedes the kick-off in Sakhir two weeks later (March 26-28).
