Alonso perplexed by Ferrari's responsiveness

Fernando Alonso will struggle to stand out at the British Grand Prix. The pilot of the Team will only start from 17th place on the grid after being the victim of a spin at the end of Q1 while the Asturian did his best in the rain with slick tires. His teammate Kimi Räikkönen, operating on the same strategy, did not achieve a miracle either since he will only start from 19th position.

" Both Williams and both Ferraris were eliminated in Q1. Something clearly went wrong compared to the other teams.”, commented the double world champion. “We're going to have to do that again because we had two cars with the wrong tires at the wrong time. This has happened before and we escaped by luck. I remember taking pole here in 2012 when I passed ten seconds before the checkered flag to do a wet lap in Q2. »

Fernando Alonso believes that his team was unable to react quickly enough even though the conditions were unpredictable. The Spaniard does not intend to make the same mistake next time. “I believe that big teams have longer procedures than small ones. We must therefore try to improve the speed of our communications. Some cars had signed green sectors with slicks several minutes before and we were still in the garage. This is something we will have to improve. »

The start of the British Grand Prix will take place tomorrow at 14 p.m. The race will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr. Photos from the weekend can be viewed on this link.
