Alonso provisionally fit to drive in China

After undergoing a new series of tests, Fernando Alonso has been declared fit to drive in China this weekend. The Spaniard will nevertheless have to undergo further examinations after FP1.

Alonso provisionally fit to drive in China

Declared unfit to argue the Bahrain Grand Prix following his accident in Melbourne, where the double world champion suffered broken ribs and a small pneumothorax, Fernando Alonso received a first green light in the middle of the day in China for the third meeting of the 2016 season.

“Fernando Alonso will be permitted to participate, subject to the provisions below. The driver has been given instructions by the FIA Medical Delegate and the Chief Doctor of the Chinese Grand Prix which he must follow (art. 12.1.1.i of the International Sporting Code.) Furthermore, in accordance with art. 22.14 of the Formula One Sporting Regulations, he was informed by the FIA Medical Delegate and the chief doctor of the Chinese Grand Prix that he must undergo a new examination immediately after FP1 to determine their ability to take part following the event. “says the press release.

The definitive presence or not of Fernando Alonso for the Chinese Grand Prix will therefore be made official tomorrow.
