Funny episode that happened Fernando Alonso during the second free practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix this Friday. While he was on the track, the Spaniard saw his steering wheel literally detach from the steering column.

This happened as the two-time world champion approached the final corner of the circuit. Perhaps intrigued by the lightness of his steering wheel as he was apparently preparing for a lap, the driver Aston Martin suddenly found himself with it in his hands, quickly calling out to his team. Change the steering wheel, there is a problem with the steering wheel, it turns off,” he said on the radio.

« The car wasn't working and at a certain point I couldn't shift gears anymore... The screen was off, explained Fernando Alonso. I couldn't communicate with the team anymore either and in the last corner the steering wheel came off. We realized there might be a problem or something with the steering column. »

Luckily, the Asturian found a way to put his steering wheel back in place and return to his garage. His mechanics were able to work on it and send him back out on track a few minutes later. They quickly changed the parts and everything went well., he added. A scare in the end, but thanks to everyone in the garage for fixing it quickly. » More fear than harm and above all an episode that he will remember.
