Alonso: “React quickly”

Fernando Alonso surprised many observers on Friday afternoon by achieving the best time in the second free practice session. Ending the session in front of the no less surprising Sébastien Buemi, the pilot Renault was himself surprised by his time. Despite everything, the double world champion recognizes that this first day in Paulista was not a simple formality.

« Today was not easy due to the constantly changing weather conditions, comments Fernando Alonso. It was difficult to determine the ideal set-up for the car. But in the end, we had some good outings, with good performances. I hope we can continue to do good work tomorrow (Saturday). »

Ninth in the driver standings (26 points), the native of Oviedo would like to end his adventure with Renault on a positive note. But to do well on the Interlagos circuit, Fernando Alonso thinks he will have to know how to adapt to the vagaries of the sky.

« I think the weather conditions will be the key this weekend, adds the world champion. We therefore need to react quickly to adapt and be flexible. We have a very interesting weekend ahead of us and I hope we can take advantage of our work tomorrow (Saturday) morning to find a good pace for qualifying. »
