Alonso seeks 'safe project' for 2018

Fernando Alonso seems to no longer hide his desire to leave McLaren-Honda, the Japanese engine manufacturer continues to collect mechanical problems since its return to F1 in 2015.

The double world champion, who has again been victim of a mechanical problem during the second test session at the Azerbaijan GP held this weekend in Baku, previously admitted to Spanish radio Cadena Cope that he wanted to evolve in a “safe project” next year.

“I’m not going to think about it until September. said Fernando Alonso, but I want to embark on a safe project, without risks. I would like to be in a situation where I can be competitive from the start and win. After 16 years of competition, with everything I have achieved, I would like to perform well in my last years in F1. »

Fernando Alonso is obviously watching the transfer market where he expects to see many changes in 2018.

"I know there are more changes than we all know, added Fernando Alonso. It seems that some teams are ready for next year, but I don't think it's 100% confirmed. There should be a lot of changes in 2018.”

McLaren is reportedly in discussions to find a new engine manufacturer for next year. Honda would then only be in partnership with Sauber F1 Team.
