Alonso: Red Bull can stumble

The dominance of Red Bull seems to have been decreasing for some time. After the first victory of the season for Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel achieved his worst qualifying of the season by starting “only” from third place on the starting grid at the Nürburgring. The pressure put on Red Bull's shoulders could cause the team at the top of the Championship to make new mistakes, as was the case at Silverstone.

“It wasn?t easy when we were one second away”, remembers Fernando Alonso. “But we are only a few tenths off now. They no longer have the same confidence on the track, they no longer prepare for the race in the same way, it depends on the strategies and the stops. They can make mistakes if we attack them. If we are not competitive, they will easily do the double. »

The double World Champion maintains that a place on the podium is possible and even a victory, while rain seems more and more certain for the race. “We are not the fastest at the moment. Red Bull is in front and McLaren is quite close, we need to improve in the race if we want to aim for victory. With this rain, if we stay on the track and finish the race, I think some of the drivers in front of me will drop out because it will definitely be a pretty crazy race. »
